Ambassador of Belarus V.Rybak paid a working visit to Erbil

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Turkey and with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Iraq V.Rybak made a planned working visit to Erbil (Kurdish Autonomous region of Iraq), during the period from 1 to 3 November 2021.

V.Rybak held meetings with Prime Minister of the Kurdish Autonomous region Masrour Barzani, the Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, former President Massoud Barzani, the Head of the Directorate of International Affairs (the Minister) Safeen M.Dizayee, Minister of Internal Affairs Rebor Ahmed, Governor of Erbil Amed Hasnawi. The interlocutors discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Kurdish Autonomous Region in the context of the parliamentary elections in Iraq held in October 2021, with an emphasis on the development of bilateral trade and economic ties. The migration issue was also discussed at meetings with officials of the Kurdish Autonomous Region.

During the visit, V.Rybak held a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdish Autonomous Region. The Kurdish side received commercial proposals from Belarusian enterprises. It was reached an agreement to work out the organization of the visit of representatives of Belarusian business circles to the Kurdish Autonomous Region.

The Head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission visited the office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Erbil and got acquainted with its functioning. V.Rybak held a meeting with Honorary Consul Fuad Mamand Hamad, during which there were outlined promising areas of joint activites based on the results of meetings with the leadership of the Kurdish Autonomous Region.
