On the meeting of the Belarusian-Turkish Joint Commission on International Road Transport
23.02.2026On February 18-19, 2026 a regular meeting of the Belarusian-Turkish Joint Commission on International Road Transport was held in Istanbul.
The commission meeting was opened by the Ambassador of Belarus to Türkiye, Anatoli Glaz. The Belarusian delegation was led by Andrei Gladky, Head of the Automobile and Urban Passenger Transport Department of the Ministry of Transport, and the Turkish delegation was headed by Murat Baştor, Director General of the Directorate General for the Regulation of Transport Services at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
The meeting agenda included the issues of bilateral cooperation in developing freight transport, the exchange of current statistical information and the possibility of launching an electronic permit system to improve freight flow.
Based on the outcome of joint work the transport ministries of both countries agreed on a quota of permits for international road freight transport for 2026. On February 19, 2026 with the participation of the Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, Yauheniya Bartkevich the final Protocol of the meeting was signed.
According to the participants estimates the amendments to the Belarus-Türkiye intergovernmental agreement on extending the visa-free stay period for drivers in the territories of the two countries, which came into force on 30 of January, 2026, will give a positive boost to carriers by increasing the volume of transit and transport services.
