On holding a children’s celebration and a master class on making the traditional motanka doll for compatriots

13.01.2026

On January 13, 2026, on the eve of the Old New Year, the Embassy of Belarus in Ankara organized a children’s celebration and a master class on making the traditional Belarusian motanka doll for compatriots.

For reference. The history of this folk tradition dates back to ancient times. As our ancestors believed, the motanka doll fulfills wishes and protects its owner and home, serving as a symbol of health, happiness, and well-being.

Young Belarusians and their mothers actively participated in contests, learned how to make motanka dolls, and enjoyed friendly conversations over tea. The Embassy of Belarus brought together nearly 100 guests, whom Ambassador Anatoly Glaz congratulated on the New Year. He emphasized the fundamental importance of love for children, loved ones, and the Motherland, and noted that an inseparable bond with one’s homeland always gives confidence in oneself and in one’s future.

The master class and celebration for compatriots were organized by the Embassy staff, and the young compatriots returned home with gifts of Belarusian chocolates and sweets.
