About the Meeting of the Ambassador of Belarus to Türkiye with the Chairman of the Vatan Party

On 9 January 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Türkiye, Anatoli Glaz, held a meeting with the Chairman of one of Türkiye’s oldest left-oriented political parties, the Vatan (Patriotic) Party, Doğu Perinçek.

For reference. The Vatan (Patriotic) Party traces its origins to the Workers’ Party of Türkiye and a number of preceding political structures that emerged from the Turkish national liberation movement of 1918–1923. Today, it counts several dozens of thousands of members, with primary party organizations operating in all regions of Türkiye.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on current regional and international issues, including developments in Eurasia, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean, and certain aspects of the evolving situation in the field of regional security were also addressed.

The interlocutors discussed issues of Belarusian–Turkish interaction in the context of contemporary geopolitical realities, emphasized the importance of political dialogue and expert contacts for shaping objective approaches to international issues, and expressed support for deepening cooperation between the two countries.

D.Perinçek highly praised the balanced and peace-oriented policy of Belarus, separately emphasized the role of President Aleksandr Lukashenko in ensuring regional stability, and positively noted his firm and consistent course toward the development of the country.

Interest was confirmed in the further development of political and inter-party contacts between Belarus and Türkiye.
