On the Participation of Ambassador of Belarus Anatoly Glaz in the International Conference “Alliance to Prevent the Great War”

On July 18, 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Türkiye, Anatoly Glaz, participated in the international conference “Alliance to Prevent the Great War”, held in Ankara on July 18–19, 2026, and addressed its plenary session.

For reference: The conference is organized by the DÜNYA-MER Global Civilizations Initiative Research Center. The event brings together diplomats, incumbent and former parliamentarians, retired military officers, scholars, and members of the expert community from Türkiye and a number of foreign countries, including Azerbaijan, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Japan, Russia, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

In his remarks, Ambassador Anatoly Glaz outlined the approaches of the Republic of Belarus to preventing a large-scale conflict and comprehensively facilitating the reduction of military and political tensions across Eurasia. The Head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission stressed that the principal reason for the lack of progress in global de-escalation remains the disregard for the principle of the indivisibility of security: the security of one State cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of others. Policies based on coercion, illegal sanctions and unilateral restrictive measures do not strengthen security but rather deepen dividing lines, while the countries of Eurasia and the Global Majority possess all the necessary capacities to address common challenges independently.

The attention of experts and conference participants was drawn to the fact that these issues are of direct practical significance for Belarus. Hostilities are taking place in close proximity to the Belarusian borders, while attempts by unmanned aerial vehicles to violate the country’s airspace are recorded almost on a daily basis. It was emphasized that the Belarusian side responds to such provocations in a professional and responsible manner, preventing incidents from escalating into an interstate conflict.

In this context, reference was made to the attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle on a civilian bus carrying young Belarusian athletes in the Bryansk Region, which resulted in the loss of human lives. Belarus reaffirmed its demand for a comprehensive investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

Particular attention was paid to Belarus’ humanitarian contribution to efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The first three rounds of peace negotiations in 2022 were held on the territory of Belarus, while the fourth round took place in Istanbul. Exchanges of prisoners of war and the transfer of the bodies of the deceased continue to be carried out on the territory of Belarus with the direct assistance of the Belarusian authorities, with the latest exchange having taken place in June this year.

The Ambassador of Belarus invited interested partners to engage in a broad discussion on the future architecture of Eurasian security on the basis of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, put forward by Belarus and Russia. He stressed that security cannot be built on threats and ultimatums, as without trust, cooperation and justice any security architecture will remain fragile. Belarus does not seek confrontation and consistently advocates responsibility, restraint and common sense in international relations.

In conclusion, the Belarusian side reaffirmed its commitment to the further development of Belarus–Türkiye relations based on mutual respect, trust and friendship, as well as to continued cooperation with all partners in the interests of peace across the common continent.
