About the meeting of the Ambassador of Belarus to Turkiye with the Governor of Izmir
29.08.2025On 28-29 August 2025, the Ambassador of Belarus to Turkiye Anatoly Glaz held the meetings with the Governor of Izmir Province Suleyman Elban and the Mayor of Izmir Cemil Tugay.
The talks took place as part of the Belarusian delegation's visit to the province of the same name.
For reference: Izmir is Turkiye's third largest region in terms of population and industrial and economic potential. It accounts for approximately 6.2-6.5% of Turkiye's GDP. The agricultural sector is well developed in the region. The leading industries are cotton, grapes, olives, figs, tobacco, fruits and vegetables, fish and seafood. The industrial sector is represented by oil refining, metallurgy, transport engineering and automotive manufacturing.
The main topics of the negotiations were the prospects for intensifying trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Izmir, the search for niches for cooperation projects, and the development of future business contacts between Belarusian and Turkish economic entities in specific areas.
The issues of developing contacts between the regions of Belarus and Izmir, opportunities for cooperation in the agro-industrial sector and emergency response were discussed in detail. A number of agreements were reached.
During the staying in the region, the Belarusian delegation also held meetings with the leadership of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Aegean Business Association and representatives of the province's business circles.
