On the event on the occasion of Independence Day of Belarus

On July 3, 2023, a solemn event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of Belarusian compatriots living in Türkiye took place in the “Belarusian Corner”, which has already become a traditional venue for national events.
The celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus was attended by representatives of the Grand National Assembly and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, as well as expert and business circles, ethnic Belarusians, Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Belarus.
In his speech, Ambassador of Belarus Victor Rybak congratulated his compatriots on the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, stressed the importance of this holiday for every Belarusian and its connection with the Day of Liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders.
In the framework of the exposition organized jointly with the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul on the genocide of the Belarusian people, the Ambassador of Belarus separately dwelled on the example of one of the stands and clearly drew the attention of the participants of this event to the atrocities experienced by the multinational Soviet and Belarusian people, in particular. Horrifying figures were given on the number of death camps on the territory of modern Belarus and the victims who fell at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators.
The speech also noted that this year has been declared the “Year of Peace and Creation” in our country, emphasizing the role and contribution of Belarus to the establishment of peace in the region and the world as a whole. Ambassador Victor Rybak urged to remember and honor our history for the sake of our future and the future of further generations of Belarusians.
Along with the organized Belarusian cuisine and exposition in the “Belarusian Corner” the compositions of famous Belarusian musicians and groups were being sounded.
Books from the National Library of Belarus were donated to the “Belarusian Corner”.
